Living tree memorial including your choice of tree, biodegradable urn. The service provides a young tree, transporting the tree, planting the tree with the urn and closing, with a resin plaque. There is an option to plan a memorial service with the implantation of the urn and the tree. Please refer to the map of areas we service. Further extra travel options are available in distance, but will require extra cost. This service can only be provided on personally owned property.
History
Greetings from Guy and Donna Swails from western Pennsylvania. We are a soon to be retired couple, who had a problem finding an alternative way to lay our loved ones ashes to rest. We also have our beloved pets ashes that needed a resting place before we ourselves become too old. Once we researched and decided to do it ourselves , we felt sure there were others needing an alternative to expensive memorials or burials. We do not use seedlings, seeds or scatter them on a tree or in a forest.
Trees add to our survival and to our eco system. This is a safe, green, legal way to make one with nature in the most simplistic way. We are so honored to watch as our own loved ones trees grow and reach to the sky. It is a very calming and comforting way to say good-bye, always near and not on a strange plot rarely visited. We look out our window and watch it grow everyday!

We hand make the biodegradable, eco friendly Urns on site. I personally create Urns that can be chosen from a variety of colors and nature theme. We service all adult sizes, children and pets and will do our best to satisfy your personal needs. We take this very seriously and do not discriminate for any reason. Land must be owned or you have permission to use the land by the owner. Each state has its own laws for cremated ashes burial.
Our Beginning
We started the service when our own family needed an alternative to burial with a casket and wanting something more personal as a memorial. In researching options for our families cremated ashes, we found nothing in our area that provided Living Tree burials. We did not want to scatter the ashes and did not want a simple seedling planted. We own our land and decided, we could do it ourselves. Once we determined the eco biodegradable procedure, we planted Living Trees in our yard. So it began!
Handmade Urn
Urns can become very expensive and not affordable for everyone. In order for your loved ones ashes to become a part of the roots, a biodegradable urn must be used. After the tree grows sturdy roots, the urn will start to degrade. It is then that the ashes begin the journey, to join as one, with the trees roots. This can take 1-2 years, but is necessary as to not harm the young trees roots when planted. The ashes chemical compounds can interfere with a young tree roots and kill the tree.
Tree selection
Varies on the specific tree that is chosen by size and type of tree chosen.
Our service is located in western Pennsylvania, where rolling hills and beautiful trees blossom and then show us their vibrant colors of nature in the fall. There are many trees to choose from that are compatible with our 4 season weather. We order the tree and it is shipped to us within 2-3 days. The 2 trees we planted in our own yard have been thriving and beautiful! Everyday, we see a reminder of the glory of nature, as the trees flourish with our loved ones close by. It is very comforting.
Travel and expenses
Travel costs are included in the price if you are in the local surrounding area. Additional travel cost can be discussed and agreed upon in the total price. We are willing to travel outside of the designated area, but there will be additional travel costs. We will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Alternative Natural Memorial
Save thousands and replenish nature!
We made this very affordable, due to our own personal experience. In a google research, we found no service of this kind in our area. Burial expenses and funerals/memorial service, burial plots with a vault and opening and closing of the plot runs in the thousand. This is a loving, affordable, natural way to honor your loved ones. You can save the Ashes, scatter them and still use a portion of them for a Living Tree memorial. A service can be performed and we will accommodate your wishes.
Planting time and scheduling
Our planting time starts in the month of May when the ground is thawed and frost will not damage the young tree. The planting season would end in September, so the tree can settle in its ground environment before winter weather. A contract will be provided. You can schedule a planting at any time and your date will be secured for planting season. A non-refundable deposit will be paid to hold your date of service in the contract. We will provide dignity and honor in memorializing your loved one.
